This year’s Summer Ball transported guests to the sun-soaked shores of Italy—at least in spirit! Guests arrived to a welcome Limoncello Spritz, raising a glass to an evening inspired by all things Italian.
Unfortunately, the weather seemed to have mistaken “Italian Summer” for “British Bank Holiday” and treated us to an evening of rain. Thankfully, while the heavens opened, spirits remained firmly sky-high, proving that a little water was no match for good company and a great party.
The food was a real highlight of the evening. A tempting selection of canapés got proceedings underway, followed by a choice of delicious starters, including a beautifully prepared hot smoked salmon dish. Guests then enjoyed a selection of main courses, with the lamb shank proving particularly popular, before rounding off the meal with an impressive array of desserts that left very few sweet tooths unsatisfied.
Entertainment was provided by a fantastic Elvis tribute act who ensured the King was very much in the building. Before long, guests were singing along to the classics, dancing and proving that a little bit of Vegas can fit perfectly into an Italian-themed evening.
Most importantly, the Summer Ball was a wonderful opportunity for members and guests to come together, laugh, dance and enjoy a memorable evening despite the weather’s best efforts to steal the spotlight.
Lady Captain Amanda would like to extend her sincere thanks to everyone who attended and helped make the event such a tremendous success. Your enthusiasm, generosity and willingness to embrace the evening—rain and all—created a fantastic atmosphere and made the Summer Ball a truly special occasion.
