Dress Code 

Chelmsford Golf Club seeks to provide a friendly, relaxed and sociable environment and operates a contemporary and forward-thinking Dress Code Policy that is commensurate with a modern day members club. Members and visitors are expected to wear smart golfing attire or smart casual clothes in keeping with golfing traditions.

We respectfully request the following guidelines are adhered to, therefore avoiding any embarrassment or disciplinary action.

On the Course:

  • Golf shoes and golfing attire must always be worn 

  • White socks should be worn with shorts

  • Gentlemen are allowed tailored shorts, but cargo shorts or shorts with patch pockets are not acceptable

  • Gentlemen should always wear a collared or turtleneck shirt which must be tucked into trousers or shorts

  • Ladies can wear sleeveless shirts which must have a collar and can be worn outside of shorts/skirts (if so designed)


In the Clubhouse:

  • Dirty or damp golfing attire and waterproofs are not allowed

  • No golf shoes of any type are allowed to be worn in the clubhouse. 

  • Smart clean jeans and Smart clean trainers are acceptable

  • Flip flops, hooded tops, ripped jeans, sleeveless shirts, beach shorts, ¾ length trousers, cargo shorts, football shirts or tracksuits are not suitable attire

  • Shirts worn by gentlemen must always be tucked into trousers/shorts

  • Shoes must always be worn. Deck shoes or loafers can be worn without socks

  • Hats must be taken off before entering the Clubhouse

  • The Dress Code for events or special lunches may vary. Please ensure you are aware of any specific requirements at these functions
